Our guest:
Brett O'Brien. Brett has practiced as a qualified Naturopath for almost twenty years and is still excited by the possibilities this career can offer. The constant that he is always most fascinated by is the human interaction. Brett has always embraced a desire to engage with others. The human capacity to communicate, connect and support each other can be extremely fulfilling work.
After graduating Brett soon found himself adrift with possibilities within the scope of naturopathy. For many years he went from one option to the next – working in integrative health in a fledgling menopause clinic using bio-identical hormones (one of the first in the country), selling probiotics to a pharmacy industry, worked in health food stores, pharmacies, nutritional sales, medical centres and finally to a concept clinic that aims to rediscover the art of naturopathy – to support the innate self.
Brett believes that the role of the naturopath is to provide a managed re-connection with this innate capacity. He says our role is really to identify and remove the roadblocks that inhibit the body from what it already knows. Our tools of the trade then provide a means of traction and momentum.
Trying to understanding the human experience is so very complex, but Brett believes he closer to understanding it through the philosophy of Naturopathy than any other health profession. He loves the fact that the body intrinsically understands what it feels like to be perfect, and its aim to return is based in hope, confidence, possibility and self-sustainability.
Brett established Core Naturopathics in 2010 with a focus on returning to the philosophy of the past, but with a very modern application. It is what he believes naturopathy can be as a modern, scientific and results based clinic that supports people’s capacity to heal and thrive. It also represents his vision to engage with others, experience the human condition and trail blaze through this new age of wellness.
